Learning Strategies
CollaborationStudents will work together in diverse groups on projects and gain a better understanding of how they work in groups and other approaches to tasks. They will grow by working with a variety of people both at Nipmuc and the community through thoughtful listening, offering contributions, and reaching consensus on difficult problems.

Communication
A core component of Legacy and the POL is the student’s ability to communicate what they have accomplished through a wide variety of mediums and an array of audiences. As students are leading the depth and breadth of their own learning, it will become incredibly important for them being clear on their goals and then prioritising their work. By developing these skills, it will help them create a life long work-life balance.

Design ProcessDesign thinking gives students a framework to understand the process aspect of learning and creating; that it is not simply about the end product. We want students to be able to be able to step out of their comfort zones, take mindful risks to try new things, and make mistakes because that means that they are actively engaged. To this end, we value the learning process over the final product.

Peer AssessmentAs an extension of collaboration, our students will present and peer assess each others inquires, not from the standpoint of grading but from the standpoint of generating inspiration in their own inquiries.
|
PartnershipsA key component of Legacy is developing partnerships with professionals both inside and outside of Nipmuc. These partnerships are with experts that will be crucial to forwarding your learning Inquiries!

InternshipsIn Legacy, internships are a crucial component to add authenticity to their learning experience. Many of our students through their Nipmuc course selection point their learning in specific content areas. Legacy Internships build on that learning and allow them to immerse themselves in their future career and chart their path to the future.
